Think Better
Today's Scripture
"...you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious---the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse." (Philippians 4:8, MSG)
The Scripture tells us to meditate on God's Word day and night. The word "meditate" means "to think about over and over." We need to pay attention to what we're meditating on. What you allow to play in your mind will determine what kind of life you live. Meditating on problems doesn't make them better; it makes them worse. Your life is going to follow your thoughts. When you think better, you will live better.
Paul tells us to think on things that are wholesome, pure, and of good report. If it's not a good report, don't dwell on it, because it's going to poison your spirit. Instead of replaying the doom and gloom over and over, replay what God says. Yes, the financial situation may be a little shaky, but God says He will supply all your needs. He said He will prosper you even in a time of famine. He said He will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings that you cannot contain. Go through the day meditating on that!
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You for giving me Your promises to meditate upon. Thank You that Your Word instructs me to think on things that are true and right, wholesome, pure, and of good report. I declare that my trust is in You alone and not in anything else in Jesus' Name, Amen."

Choose Your Battles Wisely
Today's Scripture
"Take control of what I say, O LORD, and guard my lips." (Psalm 141:3, NLT)
In 1 Samuel 17, when David heard the giant Goliath taunting the army of the Israelites, he had come there to deliver food to his brothers. His oldest brother, Eliab, heard him ask some soldiers what the reward would be for the man who killed Goliath, and he tried to embarrass David. He was saying, "You're just a little shepherd boy who's conceited and has a wicked heart."
Now, David had killed a lion and a bear, but it says David just walked away. If he had gotten into an argument with Eliab, trying to prove he was a champion, he may have never faced Goliath and gained immediate prominence.
You have to learn to walk away from petty arguments, from disrespect, from jealous people, from battles that don't matter. If the thing that comes against you is not between you and your destiny, ignore it.
If you make the mistake of engaging in every conflict, you're not going to have time for the battles that do matter. Choose your battles wisely.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You that You are my defender, and You will protect my reputation as I keep on honoring You. Give me wisdom to know when something that is coming against me is simply a distraction that will get me off course. Help me to guard my lips and not get involved in battles that don't matter in Jesus' Name, Amen."

Nothing Happens Until You Speak
Today's Scripture
"Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy." (Psalm 107:2, NKJV)
In Luke 1, when an angel told Zechariah that his wife, Elizabeth, was going to have a baby, he said, "How can I be sure of this? We're too old now." The angel said, "It's going to happen, but now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens."
That's how powerful words are. God knew that if Zechariah went around speaking words of defeat, such as "This isn't possible," that would stop the promise.
God has spoken promises to your spirit that may seem impossible. Don't talk yourself out of the miracle. Your words have creative power. When you speak something out, you're giving it the right to come to pass. It's one thing to believe you're healed, but when you say "I am healed," that releases the healing. It's not enough to just believe you have favor or that you're going to fulfill your dreams. Nothing happens until you speak. Get in agreement with God. Dare to declare what He put in your heart.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You for the promises You have spoken to my spirit. Thank You that I can speak words of faith that agree with Your promises and give them the right to come to pass. I will use my words to invite good things into my life in Jesus' Name, Amen."

Proclaim His Greatness
Today's Scripture
"Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples." (Psalm 105:1, NASB)
When someone gives you a meaningful or costly gift, how do you show your appreciation? Do you tell them how grateful you are? What do you do with that gift?
When it's something you are truly thankful for, you openly and proudly display the gift. When others see and admire it, you probably tell them where it came from and about the generosity of the giver.
In the same way, we should give thanks to the Lord and constantly show our gratefulness and appreciation for all He has done for us by displaying the gifts He's given us.
We should also display the characteristics of our heavenly Father. We should display His likeness. We should have His eyes, His mouth and His mannerisms, too. We should display love, peace, joy, kindness and hope. We should live our lives in such a way that our very actions declare His greatness and cause others to take notice.
Declare His greatness by living a life of gratitude to Him and let the whole world know what He has done for you!
A Prayer for Today
"Father in heaven, I commit to You every area of my life---my mind, my will, and my emotions. Reveal to me anything that isn't pleasing to You. Show me Your ways so that I can walk with You and live righteously in every area of my life in Jesus' Name, Amen."
